The Problem
Each day thousands of men become victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, physical violence, and suicide. There are far too few shelters available for them. Most of the existing ones, lack amenities, basic hygiene, and are not safe. Many fathers are forced to stay in an unhealthy household to protect their children. More often than not, these fathers don’t have the means to remove their children and take them to a safe environment.
The Solution
We aim to
- Build safe, clean and dignified shelters for fathers who need an appropriate temporary place to live with their children & other men in need
- Provide free child custody legal consultation
- Provide free divorce legal consultation
- Provide free support and counseling for male victims of sexual violence
- Provide free support and counseling for male victims of domestic violence
1 in 4 men in the US will experience rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner.
1 in 7 men (13.8%) age 18 and older in the US have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
How Feminists for Men helps?
Our society ignores and disregards that men too get raped and become victims of domestic violence. In reality, men do get abused, raped, and victimized. The shame, and the stark lack of healing resources pushes men into further isolation. Unfortunately, in the US alone, 4 times more men die by suicide than women.
Feminists for Men aims to help male victims of sexual assault as well as husbands and fathers facing domestic violence and their children to find a place to live with dignity, security, and support.
At Feminists for Men, we have identified the barriers that stop men from seeking help. The goal of our organization is to provide:
